Farmers will vote on Tuesday November 23 to decide continuing marketing quotas for the 1966 1967 and 1968 peanut crops. Eligibility is limited to those sharing in 1965 crop peanuts on farms harvesting over 1 acre.
Ada moves toward creating an Urban Renewal Authority with enabling ordinances for a local firm to set up the authority. City Manager J B Davidson says federal housing must accompany any renewal plan and notes the area north and west of the Frisco tracks as the likely project zone.
The third session of the dairy short course finished November 1 with over 100 Grade A dairymen and farm youths attending. Curtis Richardson and Clifford Burton led discussions on dairy problems and management. Delbert Gerloff reported a ration saving $10 daily. The program aims to provide follow up fact sheets to boost Pontotoc County dairy economics.
Market referendum on upland cotton quotas for 1966 will be held November 23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Light's Grocery Potter's Grocery Gaar Corner ASCS Office Ada Grady Miller's Produce Allen and Sweat's Grocery Lula. Voters must be farmers who produced upland cotton in 1965 and a two thirds majority is needed for quotas and the broader program to take effect for 1966.
