Quail Research Lab Marks Second Anniversary at Oklahoma A&M

The Radioisotopes and Rarling ton laboratory at Oklahoma A&M College observed its second anniversary on Friday November 9. The program, run with landowners, aims to improve wildlife food, cover, and quail habitat for lasting hunting benefits. Drouth reduced grass cover and food, pushing birds into timber and fence rows earlier than normal.

Frisco Woman Finds Bobby Pin Backfires on Note

Frisco resident Mrs. Vera Minor planned a kind paper note for neighbor Mrs. Simon Patton but left a note pinned to the door with a bobby pin. Patton found the scene and the note referenced relatives and travel while a propane man used the same pin to close the tank door, creating an ironic mix up.

Polio Fight Sets 1957 March of Dimes Goal

Norman C. Mitchell chair of the Panoptoc County chapter says the 1957 March of Dimes targets a national quota of 45.9 million dollars. He spoke after a Dallas regional conference about polio vaccination, patient care, rehabilitation, and education. The plan includes 10 million for vaccine access and distribution through foundation chapters with medical guidance.

Polled Hereford sale tops at $27,995 for 48 head

Lester Blair and Sons held their third annual production sale at the Tatch near Center selling 48 Polled Hereford cattle for a total of 27995 dollars. The sale averaged 583 per head with top bulls bringing 6000 and 4500. The top heifer sold for 950 and two top bulls and heifers plus breeding stock came with carved walking canes.

Byng Alumni Group Elects Officers at Homecoming

The Byng High School Alumni Association held its annual Home coming in the school auditorium on Saturday night. About 90 graduates and their families attended. Jack Johnson was elected president Betty Murray secretary and five program committee members were chosen. Refreshments were served and a tour of the new grade school followed. Members came from California Tennessee Kansas and Illinois.

Wanda Young Wins Agate Scholarship in Stillwater

Pantonae County 4H honors a Fitzhugh girl as southeast winner of a $200 educational award in the state home demonstration achievement program. Wanda Young is one of four outstanding 4-H girls recognized in Oklahoma. Her record includes gardening, clothing, dairy, food preservation, home beautification, and electrification projects, all contributing knowledge and earnings.
