Korean Recalls Adans Far From Home
Lt. Col. Hu Eung Myung, a retired Korean War officer living near Seoul, visited Ada’s Jimmie Thomas ranch in autumn 1956. He admired American farming, hoped to start a small Thomas-style ranch in Korea, and planned to buy denuded mountains after selling his home. He sought two four-month-old Holstein heifers, sending a letter about his dream of a green pastoral life. He has a wife and four children and remains grateful for American farms and friendship.

Farm Land Values Rise in Oklahoma Kansas Missouri
The Agriculture Department reports farm land values rose two percent in Oklahoma Kansas and Missouri from March to July with Missouri up 3.5 percent and national rate at two percent. Missouri average per acre climbed from 111.98 to 114.20 while Kansas rose from 103.39 to 105.43 and Oklahoma from 85.86 to 85.55. (Continued on Page Two).

Oakman Sportsmen Club Views Holy Land Film Night
Oakman Sportsmen’s Club met November 2 in Oakman school gym with about 40 members and guests. A Thanksgiving dinner was served by the ladies. Guests included Patti and Shirley Tucker Ada and Mr and Mrs Hammond, and Mr and Mrs Billy Lee and baby Ada. Bobby Thompson and wife shown a movie built from Italy, France and Egypt, featuring the Roman Cathedral the Garden of Gethsemane the River Jordan and Christ’s tomb. The film duration was about 1 hour 20 minutes. Thompson tours church groups statewide with these movies. Next meeting scheduled for the first Thursday in December.

Ada teacher Clay Jones celebrates 90th birthday
In 1896 the Ada resident faced illness and career changes after typhoid hit his family. He taught in a two room Roff school, later led teacher certificate exams, and worked as a rancher and judge of the peace. On his 90th birthday he recalled early schooling, shifts, and life in Ada and Roff.

Allen Voters Reject $93,000 School Building Plan
Allen residents voted 179 to 117 against a proposed $93,000 school building program. Opponents, including local pensioners, feared higher taxes. Had approved, the project would have housed the FFA, instrumentary music departments, a cafeteria, and a superintendent's office. Superintendent C G Weaver planned to resubmit later.

Ada Hosts Governor's Economic Development Committee Meeting
Ada welcomed the Governor's Committee on Economic Development with Ted Savage predicting about 70 attendees.
