Stonewall Homecoming Draws 500 To Sportsmen's Park
Stonewall residents and visitors gathered at the Sportsmen's Club grounds for the second annual Homecoming. Despite weather and rough roads, about 500 people attended as county crews repaired soft spots and aided cars. The Frisco Home Demonstration Club provided hot and cold drinks and service, while cement tables and a bountiful feast showcased peaches and seasonal dishes. County Wool Crop Shrinks with Higher Prices
The county sheep flock has dwindled as many producers sold part of their stock. W. J. Weir, now shearing solo, reports better quality wool despite fewer sheep and rain washing dirt from fleeces, producing lighter weights. Prices rose to 50-55 cents with a county top of 58.5 cents, while lambs bring $21.50 to $24 per hundred. Pontotoc County wool remains high quality.

Winds Drive Frisco Residents to Storm Cellars
Frisco residents faced a virulent wind and rain storm last Friday night with many rushing to safety in storm cellars. A Frisco correspondent recalls Mrs. G W Barnes and Mrs. Ann Lee trapped near barb wire and flooded boots as they sought shelter, only to be aided by Mr. Barnes flashlight. The scene escalated with misdirected cellar-door relays while neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Jack West waited inside, as more details unfold on Page 2.

Wheat Crop Hit by Bugs Freeze Rain and Bad Weather

R. E. Johnston Dies Saturday Funeral in Lula
R E Johnston known as Uncle Bob of Lula died from a heart attack Saturday at age 94. Services were held Monday afternoon in the Lula School gym under Slater's Funeral Home direction with burial at Little Cemetery. Survivors include wife Susan, daughter Maggie Hallmark Vernon Texas, sons Joe Lee Mountbatten Beach California Pall Arthur Lula Ben Turpto Bill Stonewall and Robert Tupelo, 32 grandchildren 62 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.

Irene Caldwell Wins Army Good Conduct Medal
BAUMBOLDER Germany Army PFC Irene Caldwell son of Mr and Mrs Grady Caldwell Route 3 Ada recently was awarded the Good Conduct Medal while serving with the 265th Field Artillery Battalion in Germany Caldwell a member of Battery 6 received the decoration for his exemplary behavior efficiency and fidelity He entered the Army in June 1955 after graduating from Byng School The 20 year old soldier received basic training at Fort Chaffee Ark and arrived overseas in November 1955.
