Severe weather drenched Ada with three quarters of an inch of rain in about 20 minutes as temperatures fell 11 degrees to 40. Urban streets flooded, traffic halted on West Main, and branches were blown down. Hail caused minor damage to flowers and trees.
Tulsa War Assets Administration announces sealed bids for two Oklahoma properties in Guymon and Ponca City. The Cabot Carbon Black plant at Guymon valued at 2 501 000 includes 60 acres and housing for staff. The Darr School of Aeronautics at Ponca City valued at 413 849 includes 36 acres and multiple structures and hangars.
The FBI moved to investigate the theft of grand jury evidence used in vote fraud indictments tied to last August's Democratic primary. Ballots poll books and tally sheets were stolen from the Kansas City election board vault after two steel doors were blasted. Local and state agencies cooperate as the FBI takes lead. The Jackson county grand jury indicted 71 persons and cited a suspected miscount that affected Roger Slaughter's nomination.
Fair skies dominate Oklahoma tonight with a rise in temperatures into Friday. Northwest winds ease as highs reach the middle 70s on Friday, bringing a warmer day ahead.

He details training in the United States and plans to return to Sumatra in about two months after a US stay. He recalls wartime imprisonment and highlights oil, coal, rubber, and coffee in southern Sumatra.
Army surplus four motor plane piloted by Lyle Benz of Hazen North Dakota made an emergency landing near Perry Oklahoma after engine trouble on a flight from Altus to Nebraska. Benz said the Hazen public schools purchased the craft and that bad weather and a motor failure led to the forced landing.
STROUD Oklahoma May 29 Charles Harold Sharp a 40 year old highway commission construction employee was killed yesterday when run over by a heavy spiked roller used in state Highway 69 work two miles north of Stroud. Patrolman Mayes Lowery said witnesses reported Sharp stood between the tractor and a truck and moved toward the tractor before being struck by the roller frame. He died instantly according to the officer.
United States and British occupation authorities authorize an all German economic council to guide reconstruction of their merged zones. About 54 members chosen by population and party strength, with German states executing council policies under Potsdam terms. Russians and French invited to join the bi zonal merger already in effect.
Duncan Oklahoma May 29 Two Lawton men were involved in a butane gas transport crash near a bridge Northwest of Duncan One man T J Ingram was killed trapped in the cab and burned while the other William Martell Moore was thrown from the truck and seriously burned He was rushed to a Lawton hospital with first degree burns and internal injuries The truck with two tanks overturned on wet pavement causing a fire and a tank to explode the highway was closed as flames continued to burn
MISSOULA Mont. During recent floods Max Moncure reported one farmer calmly milking a cow in hip boots while water ran knee deep through a pasture.
A joint get acquainted banquet in Knight Hall linked East Central State College faculty and the new student council. Officers and members were introduced, with discussion on a stronger school spirit and publicity efforts, including a highway sign proposal for Ada.
Robert G. Bailey twenty five? thirty three, a troubleshooter for Oklahoma Gas and Electric, died in an Oklahoma City hospital after contact with a high voltage wire while attempting to repair a street light blown out by high winds. The incident occurred four hours earlier.
A city ordinance in Charlotte North Carolina forbids washing horses on public streets. The rule targets street cleanliness and public nuisance concerns.
Oklahoma City May 29 AP An estimated 741000 dollars in damage hit the state's highway system from May rain storms and floods. The worst impact was on State Highway 2 near Muskogee and Whitefield where the Canadian River cut a new channel requiring new bridges and approach construction. Immediate repairs and funding steps include requesting aid from the U S Public Roads Administration and using state emergency funds.
Gov Roy J Turner announced the eighth annual Turner ranch junior field day for 4 H club FFA and FHA members will be held June 28 at Turner ranch. The field day is a major event on the Oklahoma farm youth program and will be broadcast over a national radio network.
Ada Roundup Club led state clubs in relief ticket sales for the Woodward Relief Rodeo parade in Oklahoma City on June 7 and 8 with $500 sold. Club president Mancel Brooks said Ada riders will pursue top totals as they ticketed 50 to 60 riders and donated $100 to relief funds.
The National Safety Council reports 9,250 traffic fatalities in January–April 1947, down 14 percent from the same period last year despite rising mileage. April deaths totaled 2,300, marking an 8 percent drop from April 1946, with New Haven topping the nation for a perfect April record among cities over 100,000.
Washington May 29 Senate and house conferees approved final terms of a 4 billion annual income tax cut to start July 1. The plan offers individual rate cuts from 30 to 105 percent, with a 15 percent bracket set from 79,700 to 302,400 dollars. Millikin said final action would be expedited, possibly Monday in the house, with Truman's veto decision still undecided.
Fairfield Connecticut May 29 police found four bodies in a fire swept cottage. Mrs Jennie Marcke 45 and her children John Jr 19 Jennie 23 were slain with axe blows before the blaze. John F Murcko 45 the husband and father was mortally injured with a slashed abdomen. an axe and scissors lay beside him. Evidence suggested the cottage was set alight after the killings.
