Share-The-Fun Contest At McLish Friday

Pontotoc County 4H clubs stage the annual Share-The-Fun Festival Friday March 25 at 7 30 p m in the McLish High School auditorium with 18 acts and ten clubs. Two winning acts advance to the district contest March 31.

Values in Family Living Featured at HD District Meet

About 90 Pontotoc County women joined 800 home demonstration club members from 18 counties at the southeastern district state HD council meeting held at East Central State College. Dr. Lela O Toole spoke on values in family living at home and abroad. a pie supper and cake walk at Oakman gym Friday night April 1 raise funds for track equipment and the baseball team. short musical program by school children and outside singing talent invited.

Voice with Smile to Fade From Ada Telephones

By the end of 1956 Ada residents on the Ada exchange will switch from operator assisted calls to dial service. Bert Roberts of Southwestern Bell announces the change and that customers must dial numbers themselves and bear responsibility for incorrect connections.

Banquet to Honor Pontotoc Farmers Monday

The Conservation Awards Banquet will honor outstanding Pontotoc County farmers and ranchers Monday at 7 p m in the East Central Student Union. The event is sponsored by the banks of Pontotoc County and the Oklahoma Bankers Association with 33 local recipients to receive awards presented by George H C Green.

Polio Vaccinations Planned Across County

First and second grade students countywide will receive the Salk polio vaccine in April. A countywide planning meeting is set for March 25 at 7 30 p.m. at the Health Department to coordinate doctors, schools, and the Infantile Paralysis Foundation.

Bill Corbin Earns Certificate of Merit for Heroic Rescue

Early last summer in Sheep Creek near Harden City, Bill Corbin leaped into the water to save his friend Butch Wigley after a diving accident. He brought Butch to safety despite the current and saved his life. the rescue earned Bill the Boy Scout Certificate of Merit for valor and quick action.
