Report from Tokio on March 17 says the Russian fleet abandoned Port Arthur after the March 10 attack by the Japanese. Togo sticks with six battleships, scouting found no Russian warships near Port Arthur, and a Vladivostok dash may follow. Survivors praise the heroic assault and recount a Japanese sailor boarding the Russian vessel and killing its captain.

Special to the News from Rott J T reports Scranton McLain a full blood Chickasaw Indian was run over and mangled by a Frisco locomotive while crossing the track. He is expected to die within hours. Jesamion McLain son of Tecumseh McLain lives near Red Springs and brother in law of Tecumseh Walden, both well known in Ada, have been notified.
Ardmore I T March 16 It is learned that Governor William E Stanley of the Dawes Commission forwarded his resignation to a Washington congressman to be presented if a special inspector report did not reflect on his official act. The report clears him and the resignation would be handed in. He wished to resign to practice law in Wichita but feared it would create a wrong impression during an investigation.
Rev. G. H. Worthen visits the Methodist church to give a series of temperance talks. Tonight he speaks on Appalling Statistics of Crime, who is Responsible, Social Party Single Standard, and Prevailing Sins of the Times. Admission is free.
Frank Fore died from gunshot wounds at the Delaware hotel in Fort Worth after being shot last Tuesday morning. His body was taken to Duncan for burial Tuesday.
