A large audience gathered for a Democratic Club meeting led by chairman J J Cabeen. A bid to reorganize was rejected, but factions pressed for new officers, with J W Bolen named chairman and W W Higgins secretary as plans for a March 24 primary surfaced.
The Executive Committees of the two democratic factions held a joint conference Tuesday morning and readily set out terms and grounds for an agreement. The meeting aimed to resolve differences and unify the party ahead of the primary.
Mr Collins was elected joint conference chairman and a motion to submit chairmanship to a primary vote was discussed. Mr Cabeen and Mr Bolen were named to lead city precincts and a city limits organization. The Ada Democratic Club voted unanimously for a Democratic primary with optimism to win.
A printer mixed a marriage notice with a grocers ad causing a comical notice that reads John Brown and Ida Gray were united bands of sauerkraut by the quarter barrel. It lists Brown as a cod fish at 10 cents per pound and Gray as selling pig’s feet cheaper than any in town.
Mayor H T Drury proclaims April 7 1903 as election day for Ada Oklahoma Territory officers. Election to be held in the Mayor's office from 9 AM to sunset, conducted per law. Judges Charles Branstetter A J Deaton O T Eddleman and clerks C H Fisk J H Caben appointed. Official seal witnessed.
In Wynewood Oklahoma March 9 J B Rogers killed his brother Rainser with an ax at their mother’s home following a quarrel the previous day police report Rogers claims he did not intend the deed and fled to the city but returned to answer questions both brothers were about twenty one years old authorities continue to investigate the case
City voters hear from Re C Couch seeking a third term as Ada City Marshal. He states he has held the office for two terms and pledges to perform to the best of his ability, inviting scrutiny of his record and urging support based on past service.
A March 19 1903 program from Ada features a grand military drill with a ladies display and concert at a Christian church. It includes an Ada Cornet Band overture a Sunny South ascent scene Miss Mollie FE Jackson music by Ada Orchestra a Roman Arena scene Thompson and Jackson a Georgia wedding scene a full orchestra and a grand military drill by seventy Ada ladies with trades display and chorus.
This program showcases beautiful and comic tableaux and stage pictures for all firms, with orchestra music, fine specialties, and a comic impersonation by Miss Jackson. Reserved seats 35c general admission 25c. Tickets at Clark's Drug Store.
A young woman rushed to a store for flour and grabbed what she believed was a clean pillow slip. The slip torn and failed to hold contents, revealing two fringed outlets. She fled the scene smiling, and has not returned to the area.
Ordinance No 53 regulates paying town warrants in Ada. Warrant numbers must be consecutive and registered before payment. Warrants bear six percent interest from registration until paid and ordinances in conflict are repealed. Passed March 9 1903.
The city announces H. T. Drury as a candidate for re election to the mayoral office subject to the democratic primary on March 24. Drury has served as mayor for the past year and invites scrutiny of his record. He pledges to continue using his best efforts for faithful performance of duties if re elected.
A brief notice describes home delivery of medicines and quick service with a telephone contact. It emphasizes pre scriptions and rapid arrival for customers.
The Ada paper reviews a recent Methodist Church temperance sermon by Bro. McDonald on Romans fourteen twenty one. It emphasizes sin by proxy and urges citizens to report crime and support law enforcement to keep the town clean.
The Hotel Commercial places a large order with a major west of the Mississippi factory for a full, up-to-date line of furniture and furnishings. The house will be equipped completely for comfort and first class service, with semple rooms designed for the most fastidious traveling man. J. G. Copurn, Pror., Apa, I. T.
Last Tuesday evening Mr W T Pointer and Mrs Lou Long were married at Judge B F Talbott's residence at 6 o'clock Judge Talbott officiating. They will reside in Kendricks QO with Mrs Long's daughter Annie accompanying them. Our best wishes accompany the couple.
