Satterfield Buys M Robert Ranch In Stonewall Area

George MacRobert of Ada announces the sale of his 520 acre ranch to W S Satterfield of Tulsa, including 126 head of cattle and 37 buyers. The property lies east of Stonewall, and Satterfield plans to move his Hereford herd there.

Gas and Water Mix Ups Leave Mrs Minor Thirsty

Mr and Mrs Alvin Minor faced a dry well and a water scare when gasoline mixed into a water can. He hurried to the hay field and poured gas into the water can by mistake, leaving Mrs Minor without water while he butted heads with friends about the mishap.

Government Funds Available for Ponds and Seeding

Farmers may receive extra federal help for pond construction and fall seeding programs such as dairy vetch. The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office reports available funds due to unclaimed approvals. Local director Bennett Sherrer states applications must be filed by July 1 to be considered.

Children in Fifteen Counties Have Had Hearing Loss Tests

By year end the hearing program moved through 15 counties. Richard Krug of the Oklahoma Commission for Crippled Children reported 63 440 children tested in Ada last week. Findings show 1 811 children or 2 85 percent have hearing losses needing medical attention. Only 550 of affected children knew their hearing was not normal. Among those with loss, 647 had frequent colds, 822 ear aches, 469 a history of suppurating ears. Only 469 reported examinations or treatment. Distribution by grade shows the greatest incidence of hearing.

Unusual Armadillo Visitor Draws Ada Crowd

A nine banded armadillo was shown by Jimmy Lee Morrison near Talco Texas last Thursday. Onlookers learned armadillos eat bugs and worms and that young are nourished by milk, but the animal refused food Saturday morning.
