Old Timers Recall Center's 50 Years Ago Homecoming
The Center community honored its oldest attendee Mrs Emma Taylor age 99 born 1855 in Limestone County Texas. She and her husband Sylvester moved to Center in 1899 from Texas and built the town with a brick plant restaurant and store. Her family included musicians and merchants.

Well No 1 Moore Tops Production Test Near Allen
Officials of Boren Oil and Gas report the No 1 Moore in 1759 produced 197 barrels in 19 hours during an initial test. The well sits two miles northeast of Allen in Hughes County, 660 feet from production, and reaches 2,290 feet total depth. Pipe was set above the Lower Beach where production was found, with follow up drilling planned in about 45 days. Manager Ben Geraghty of the Jacksonville Braves, former Brookly Dodgers infielder.

Center Homecoming Day Draws 500 Attendees
The fifth annual reunion at Center drew about five hundred people on Sunday June 6 with a large turnout at meal tables and a packed gym. Senator Virgil Medlock presided at a memorial service honoring local figures who died within the year.
Three youths steal car then flee across county
Three boys Clark Smith 14 Billy Ray Dolph 16 and Dale Groom 14 stole a car in Coalgate while working on a church project. They wrecked near Lula and walked into Allen before being jailed in Pontotoc County. Sheriff Thea Bonner planned to return them to Coalgate or Stringtown.

The Seventh Annual Choctaw and Chickasaw meeting will be at the Old Choctaw Council House in Tuskahoma Oklahoma June 13 14. A Sunday picnic lunch and Monday free barbeque are planned. The meeting will explain the questionnaire on abolishing the Office of Principal Chief. Monday voters choose delegates to the Inter tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes.

Flames Wipe Out Four Buildings in Eastern Pontotoc Town
A fire in Allen Pontotoc County destroyed four operating businesses and two offices, estimated at 150000 dollars. The blaze spread from Roy Saffaran's Drug Store to J I Jones General Merchandise, Bill Glover's Variety Store, Watson Cottrell's City Cafe, and two offices, aided by a southeast wind. Ada city council Monday night reviewed many matters including Z. K. McKay request to replace a fireproof garage nearer the property line than allowed. They advised a return to the zoning board of adjustment for further discussion after the board approved a minimum three foot setback. Harry Lundgaard declined reappointment to the airport zoning board and the council agreed to seek John Evertz as replacement.
