Ada based Aubrey Kerr seeks Pontotoc County Democrats endorsement for state committeeman to oppose Jim Arrington. The Saturday 2 p.m. courthouse meeting will elect delegates to the June 27 state convention in Oklahoma City where Kerr faces Arrington. County Chairman Bob Bennett notes local support and Ada benefits if a national committeeman hails from Pontotoc.

Ned Biffle of Allen consigned an Angus bull that completed the first international performance registered test at Foraker conducted by Codding Armour Research. The 140 day feed test tracked weights gains lifetime gain and feed conversion. Biffles Prince Rowley 211 averaged 3.19 lb daily gain and 2.52 lb per day of age with the third largest ribeye area among 41 Angus bulls as predicted by ultrasonics.

Biggest flood control district advances across five Oklahoma counties
Construction continues on the Clear Boggy Creek flood control district the nation may see as the largest of its kind in a high rainfall belt. When finished it will include 162 flood control lakes and 591 066 watershed acres with 54 032 flood plain acres and annual benefits of about 780 541 dollars. The district spans Pontotoc Payne Johnston Coal Atoka and Bryan counties from Ada north to the Texas border and is divided into five sub districts. Site amenities include fishing boating and picnicking with several sites stocked by the Federal Hatchery at Tishomingo and popular duck hunting and fishing spots attracting thousands yearly. County official Rae Thomsoon stresses upstream flood control benefits.

Oakman Sports Club Holds Muddy Meet and Barbecue
The Oakman Sports Club held its monthly meeting and barbecue at the school gymnasium due to muddy grounds. About fifty attendees enjoyed food prepared by Mr. and Mrs. Roy White and others. George Carter presided as president. Virgil Williams and Burl Griffin spoke. Several newcomers and members were welcomed. Roy Long and family prepared notes. Roy Long has returned from Vietnam and is stationed at Fort Benning.

Poison Caterpillars Return This Summer
Dr. Ray A. Northrip reports the first confirmed sighting of poisonous puss caterpillars in Ada area. A three year old boy, Tony Norman, found one crawling on his arm after playing near Latta School but escaped stinging. Stings require immediate soap and water wash and medical care if needed. Control tips include removing caterpillars from bushes with arsenate of lead or malathion.

Area 4-H Camp Brings Leaders and Workshops to Texoma
Thirty five Pontotoc County 4-H members joined peers from Cleveland McClain and Murray for a four county camp at the OU Biological Research Station on Lake Texoma near Willis. Workshops covered water safety led by Lt Gene Thrasher and plant study by Dr Leland Tripp, plus grooming and citizenship activities.
