Barton P. Sibole, 57, president of the Stanolind Pipe Line Co., died at his Tulsa home from a heart ailment. A civic and church leader, he came to Tulsa in 1920 for Sinclair Oil and Gas transport work and later served as assistant to the president after Standard Oil Indiana acquired part ownership. Born in Philadelphia in 1887.
President Truman orders Secretary Ickes to seize and operate Humble Oil and Refining plants at Ingleside Texas due to a labor disturbance. The facilities are needed for crude oil and war effort products and operation is threatened by the dispute. Federal agencies including the War Manpower Commission Selective Service and Justice Department are to cooperate with Ickes as petroleum administrator.
Bartlesville voters approved a $1,150,000 bond issue by a vote of 20 to 510. Funds will finance a city pumping plant, land acquisition, and reservoir construction on Butler Creek.
WEWOKA June 6 two city bond issues were approved for 205000 to rebuild the Wewoka lake dam and 45000 to expand and modernize the sewage disposal system.

Washington reports draft deferments for 60 000 industrial workers aged 26 to 29 may be canceled by fall due to munitions cutbacks and reduced wartime urgency. Culver City Calif June 6 a vast all wood seaplane under construction is billed as the world’s largest plane by Hughes Aircraft Co Vice President Charles W Perelle. It can carry 750 soldiers and gear with a 300 plus foot wing span and eight 3 000 horsepower engines. It is designed for intercontinental freight and won’t fly until year end.
Army and navy casualties announced through the OWI include Oklahoma residents such as Navy Wounded Pfc. H. L. Bryant of String Town Pfc. J. G. Bryant of Oklahoma City and Fice C. J. Freeborn of Clinton among others.
Oklahoma City June 6 Income tax payments for 1944 were the biggest in state history. Kenneth Hurst head of the income tax division said taxpayers increased 15 percent and total liability rose 7 percent. The first summaries show 1944 returns with a liability of 10 716 845 44 against 10 020 409 80 for 1943. Returns totaled 175 118 in 1944 versus 152 827 in 1943.
