Polled Hereford Breeders at Center Gain Wide Reputation

Lester Blair and his son Wesley built Blair Polled Hereford Ranch from five heifers in 1939 to about 200 pure bred Polled Herefords on nearly 1,500 acres. They hold leadership roles in Oklahoma and Texas breeders groups and Magic Empire of Tulsa, have posted top sales with an average of 614 dollars and a top price of 3600, earning a statewide reputation beyond their local area.

Judging Set for Wildlife Tracts on June 9

Four tracts of 1 1/2 acres each, prepared by Vaness and Roff FFA chapters, will be judged June 9 with prizes of 60, 40, 30 and 20 dollars. The Pontotoc County Sportsmen's Club sponsors the contest under the federal habitat improvement program with C. H. Bond leading the project. Seeds and planting supplies were provided free and work included ground preparation, fencing, and planting of chittumwood osage orange red cedar grasses for wildlife habitats.

Fittstown Boy Injured by Exploding Cap

Roy Dee Sliger eleven, son of Mr and Mrs Roy Sliger, north of Fittstown, was hurt Saturday when a dynamite cap exploded while he tried to make a fish stringer. Pieces lodged in his chest arm and face. X rays showed no broken bones. doctor left metal to discharge naturally.

A&M Opens Summer Pre-Enrollment for Fall Term

Oklahoma A&M College registrar announces no-line pre-enrollment available all summer. Students can register between Monday and Saturday mornings with no special days, and the process takes about an hour. Weekday and Saturday sessions run except on holidays to fit working students.
