Democrats Select Candidates In Tuesday Oklahoma Runoff
In Oklahoma Tuesday nominees shaped up as J Howard Edmondson won the Democratic governor nomination by a two to one margin over W P Atkinson, with George Nigh the lieutenant governor pick and Pink Williams fading. Cartwright defeated Collins for state Senate in Seminole County, Ford won a state representative race, and in county races George Collins narrowly beat incumbent Ausell for county commissioner. Republicans lured few voters as Hyde won the attorney general nomination by 29 to 9% amid sparse turnout.

Fire destroys Graper warehouse. starts on another
Fire swept Walter Graper's Ada area warehouse early Thursday night, July 17, causing about 4000 dollars in losses. Prompt Ada Fire Department control limited damage to adjoining buildings, with insurance on the structure and significant loss of tools and equipment. Graper, who had burned grass near the hatchery building earlier, credited local help including electricians who aided service restoration.

Galey Homecoming Draws About 300 Attendees
Gala Galey Homecoming Day drew about 300 people on Sunday July 13 with Rev Doc Haley af Shawnee as master of ceremonies. Attendees came from Kansas New Mexico Colorado California and various parts of Oklahoma. The group scheduled the next homecoming for the second Sunday in July 1959. A highlight was a song by the late Bobby Wood’s children eight performers from Stratford Artesia and Ada among others reuniting as a tribute to their parents.
