Jumbo the Monkey Joins the Farmer Family in Pontotoc
Jumbo, a rhesus monkey found near Broken Bow, was bought by Preston Farmer for 80 dollars and now lives with the Pontotoc County family. He keeps pups in line, protects his leather neck strap, and enjoys bananas tomatoes and ice cream while riding on a pickup stock rack. He escapes by weaving through bars until the chain frees itself.

Recount Confirms Collins Leads In County District No 2
Last Friday's county commissioner recount shows George R. Collins still ahead of incumbent Bob Austell. The official count was 1,551 to 1,509. the recount adds nine votes for Austell and six for Collins, making 1,557 to 1,518. Collins is a former commissioner and former state representative.

Prowlers Spur Midnight Search in Fitstown
A couple of prowlers frightened residents in Fitstown early Thursday night. Deputy Burl Griffin joined a townwide search with flashlights until after midnight. He later arrested two suspects in Ada, identified by witnesses. Charges of disturbing the peace were filed in county court.

Free Will Youth Camp Opens Near Ada
About 100 boys and girls gathered at SH 13 northwest of Ada for the annual Free Will Baptists youth camp. The program runs through August 6 with daily classes in Missions and Evangelism, a morning worship, an afternoon music class, and a three hour recreation period. Rev. Gilbert Pixley of Duncan leads the camp meeting, while Rev. Delbert Akin oversees activities. assistant superintendent Wilford Lee and a large list of teachers and dormitory sponsors support the program.
