Duane Riley Selected as Jamaica Mission Student

Duane Riley 22, East Central State College senior and Union Valley Baptist Church pastor, was chosen as one of Oklahoma’s two student missionaries for a ten week Jamaica assignment. He has led prayer meetings since age 16 and works with the Baptist Student Union at the college.

Awards Set for 4-H Members at Jan 22 Meeting

The county 4 H Federation and Achievement meeting will be held January 22 at 10 a m in the district courtroom. Awards for outstanding 4 H work will be presented with Vaidene Kozel, assistant home demonstration agent, delivering 19 awards to 11 girls and Wendell Steward, assistant county agent, handling the boys with eight.

County-Wide Drive Against Home Accidents Launched

Ada Oklahoma starts a county wide campaign to reduce home accidents the leading killer of children. Mills Garrison notes the plan will be watched by the state health department and Ada Junior Chamber of Commerce Jerry Spencer chairs the coordinating committee and urges broad local church and civic group support with an organizational meeting set for January 25 at 730 p.m.

Ada Junior Chamber Honors 4-Hers With Prizes

The Ada Junior Chamber of Commerce launches a new Jaycee project to reward 4-H members. First place earns a $50 U S savings bond for a boy and a girl, with $25 bonds for second and third in each class. Judging uses a year long point system including fairs, roundups, speeches, and activities.

Ahloso Polio Benefit Basketball Games Recap

Rosedale boys beat Ahloso 39 to 21 while Ahloso girls won 32 to 25 in a polio fundraiser. Queen Gloria Jean Flowers, polio survivor, sat armored in tiara as $45 was collected. Homer Kuykendall coached Rosedale. event featured pie and coffee by the home demonstration club and a fat and lean ball game.
