Pontotoc Farmers Hope For Strong Wheat and Oats Yields
Drought setbacks last summer cited. Rainfall since Monday aids wheat and winter oats, with late spring oats planned. Last year’s crop was the lightest in 50 years, but prices at threshing time are expected to hold around 40 cents a bushel. Farmers anticipate entering northern markets and benefiting from a good feed crop reducing prices locally.
