County Officers Sworn In For New Terms Monday
Pontotoc county officials took oath for a new year Monday with nine officials sworn in by District Judge John Boyce McKeel. Miss Fred Andrews was appointed county judge to replace Judge Tal Crawford, who died Saturday. Andrews will finish Crawford's term and then serve the full term starting next Monday. The group includes Charles Holt as county surveyor the only new face, plus Rae Thompson Dave Gray Bob Austell Barney Ward Charles Rushing Abe Holloway Don Thompson and Ray Goodwin. Virgil Hunt and Norman C. Mitchell begin new terms in July. Andrews, Ada based lawyer since 1934, is the county’s only woman attorney.
