County 4-H Boys Eye Cattle Grading Contest
County 4-Hers will compete Thursday March 1 at Reeves packing plant at 1 30 p m in a commercial cattle grading contest. Forest Simpson Buys Bar-X Ranch Spread
Forest Simpson, a former bulldozer contractor, has purchased the Bar-X Ranch, a 3 055 acre spread near SH 99 and SH 61. Pon totoc County’s newest rancher invested about $100 000 in the venture, with the Bar-X dating back to the 1890s and previously owned by a succession of locals. Simpson plans to clear 500 acres for grazing and an 80 acre plot for alfalfa, while using the rolling Arbuckle Mountain country to run 300 steers.
