Firemen Respond to Electrical Fire at Local Shop
Firemen on Wednesday afternoon were called to Dimples Styling Shoppe at 120 East 10th Street when an electrical circuit overheated. Damage was confined to wiring and the switchbox with no injuries reported.
County Schools Enter United Nations Pilgrimage Program
A student from Ponto stock County's eight high schools will be chosen to join the 20th annual United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth, sponsored by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Rebekahs. Ada Lodge 148 and Rebekah Lodge are local sponsors. funds come from the Tobac Odd Fellows. The selected student will observe the United Nations for a week as a guest of the orders with all expenses paid. Juniors or sophomores not over 17 by Aug 1 may apply. each school selects candidates who take a 100 question exam, followed by committee interviews. Determinants include scholarship, readership, character, health, community involvement, and concern for world affairs.

Cattle Grading Is A Success At Pontotoc County Contest
The Pontotoc County 4H Cattle Grading Con test at Reeves Packing Company drew over 120 boys from 17 clubs.
