Defensive Driving Classes Emphasize Prevention in Ada
A set of eight two hour defensive driving sessions led by Trooper David Blackburn drew 192 participants near Ada Oklahoma. The courses, run with the National Safety Council and Ada Chamber of Commerce, stressed preventing crashes rather than assigning blame. About 148 earned completion certificates, with 44 missing sessions. A summer repeat series may follow.

The Excise Board and Board of County Commissioners establish courthouse holidays for the year. County offices close for Memorial Day May 30 Independence Day July 4 Labor Day Sept 1 Veterans Day Nov 11 Thanksgiving Nov 27 Christmas Dec 25 New Years Day Jan 4. Oklahoma wildlife officials urge sportsmen to begin trapping beavers to curb growing damage across 77 counties. Beavers, nocturnal and elusive, are increasingly common in streams and woods, with pelts selling from eight to one hundred dollars. Hunters should seek landowner permission and set traps in about eight inches of water to control beaver activity.
