Former ECSC coach dies in California at 36
Frank Crider, former head football coach at East Central State College, died in Mendota California from a heart attack at age 36. He had taught Spanish and coached swimming at Mendota High School and served as ECSC track coach. He was a standout Oklahoma Sooners back 1927 1929 and later coached at several Oklahoma towns. He directed Spring Valley Boys Ranch and served in the Navy in World War II. His wife Katherine teaches at Mendota High.

Vaccinations Increase in Bangs Program for County Herds
County veterinarians stepped up Bangs vaccinations in the market cattle testing program this month. Pontatoc County livestock owners formed a six member committee to promote the three year effort and reached an agreement with cattle owners to implement interim vaccination and testing. The plan includes free vaccination for eligible replacement heifers and backtagging cows over 30 months sold for slaughter.

A sale of 61 head of Hereford cattle at Coalgate by the Coal County Breeders Association fetched 21330 dollars with an average near 850 per animal. Bulls averaged 400, heifers 207, two top bulls sold for 675 each to Jim Stribling. Reserve champion was MHR Rupert owned by Calhoun, and JDH Mischief 1 led the show.
