Allen High School hosts a first five county band festival on February 12 in the auditorium with bands from McLoud Tecumseh Maud Rowlegs and Konawa. The event features an all day elimination and a 90 piece orchestra with Don Gant directing and a 7 30 p m concert. Admission is 25 cents.

County Baptist Churches Plan Leadership Clinic
An Allchurch Leadership Clinic will be held Feb 6 at the First Baptist Church of Ada for the Banner Association. About 20 state Baptist workers from Oklahoma City will lead 13 simultaneous conferences from 7 to 9 p.m. The aim is to train church officers and leaders in paid and volunteer roles, with Dr. T. B. Lackey and Dr. August Henry among the speakers. A film titled On Tomorrow's Threshold will be shown. Twelve clinics are sponsored annually by the convention.

Allen High grows student carpentry into off campus houses
Twenty three Allen High School students in the vocational carpentry department are building a three bedroom home on campus grounds and plan two more. The project began November one with a 2200 square foot structure and uses funds from the general build fund. Carpentry work is split by class year with juniors and seniors in mornings and freshmen and sophomores in afternoons. Local tradesmen will handle wiring and plumbing. Adams Lumber Co. supplies materials. The homes will be rented to teachers and rent will support the building fund.

Man dies after one car crash near Stratford Arkansas
Truman D. Cox aged 41 died at Valley View Hospital after a January 24 one car crash east of Stratford. His wife Rosa Lee 43 remained in critical condition at an Oklahoma City hospital. Trooper Lloyd Basinger investigated the wreck, noting Cox lost control on SH 19, veered off the shoulder, struck the bridge bannister, and demolished the car. The crash site was the same bridge where Simon Fine's body had been found four days earlier after being missing since January 6.
