Miss Valdene Kozel leaves Pontotoc County role December 15 to head Murray County Home Demonstration Office with headquarters in Sulphur. A Shawnee native and OSU graduate, Kozel directed 4-H activities, dairy foods and breads programs, with 568 girls completing records last year and 390 members in 20 clubs in 1958.

The Ada Shetland Pony Sale ended Friday night after about 300 ponies entered the auction. Sixty one registered ponies sold at an average of roughly 1000 dollars, with grade ponies averaging 300 dollars. Top seller was registered mare Strawberry Dimple, bought for 10500 dollars by Vern Helt. Asa Hutchinson said the event drew strong support and out of state interest, with the next sale set for March.
