Tupelo Man Hurt In Accident At Highway Dept
Winford Douglas Lowden, 12, a Tupelo employee of the State Highway Department, was injured this morning at the Highway Department yard on N Broadway while assisting to load material for the new headquarters. A section of latticed metal bridge handrail fell on him, and he was admitted to Valley View Hospital in fair condition for a right leg injury.

J B Rae Thompson a 22 year Pontotoc County commissioner was elected president of the State Commissioner Association. Thompson who first won election in 1942 succeeds J C Meek of Clinton as president. He is the only Pontotoc County commissioner to serve on the board or as president. The group meets in Oklahoma City this week. Thompson and wife reside near Stonewall. Ada Resident Dies In City Jail
Ada man Boyd Winship fifty five, listed as of Main Hotel, died yesterday in city jail. He was found dead about 7:30 pm. An autopsy by Pr. Larry Cartmell attributed the death to natural causes after an arrest earlier that evening for public drunkenness. Fire Department attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Program To Provide Oklahoma Landowners Superior Tree Seedlings
Oklahoma's forestry division partners with OSU and the agricultural experiment station to develop superior fast growing timber seedlings from Norman and Broken Bow nurseries. Funded partly by the U S Forest Service, the program aims to breed cottonwood and shortleaf pine with better wood quality disease resistance and growth. Once seed orchards near Idabel mature in four to five years, premium seedlings will be made available for landowners for field planting and future wood production.
