Four Ada Boys Attend Oklahoma 4-H Conservation Camp
Four Ada youths Larry Gentry Brooks Palmer Burton Scott Michael Golden and sponsor Emerson Black joined about 120 others at the 28th Annual Oklahoma 4-H Conservation Camp held at Red Rock Canyon State Park near Hinton. Activities covered forestry wildlife pesticides highway safety and soil and water conservation with outdoor camping swimming volleyball and cot sleeping. On return they stopped at El Reno to tour an old fort.

Thunderbirds Honor Former Ada Resident
Former Ada resident Lt. Col. Howard P. Rice received the Oklahoma Meritorious Service Medal from the 45th Infantry Division at Fort Chaffee Arkansas during the division summer field training. Rice, now of Lawton, retired after a long career beginning as a National Guard private and rising to battalion commander with World War II and Korean War honors.
