Six nights and seven days of lively entertainment in Oklahoma City run from May 16 to 21. The Gaskill Carnival company will supply attractions, railroads offer reduced fares, and U R is invited to attend and enjoy the hospitality during the week of festive events.
Washington April 27 The bill authorizing payment of 608000 to the Choctaw and Chickasaw nations from townsite sale proceeds has been approved by the president. Payments begin May 1 1904 and will go to enrolled tribal members equally, with freedmen excluded.
Deputy U S Marshal Bob Nester arrested J M Satterfield of Owls on a mortgage property charge due to name similarity. A misidentification led to bonds set at 400 dollars, witnesses testified Satterfield was not the man, and he was released without a hearing. He plans to sue for damages.
In San Jose on April 25 a masked man armed with two revolvers robbed the Delmonte social club room, taking a $400 diamond ring and about $350 to $400 from a table. A citizen pursuit lasted over an hour with about thirty shots fired, ending in the robber's death. The dead man was Bert Thorndyke a prominent local figure connected by marriage to Mrs. G M Bruce and with a brother a notable New York artist.
Presidents W N Kornegay of the Indian Territory bar and Roy V Hoffman of the Oklahoma bar unite to merge the two associations into one. Their executive committees will likely vote and then call special meetings before the Indian Territory association’s June annual meeting.

Agent W. W. Bennett in Ardmore reports many persons in unlawful possession of land in the Chickasaw nation. He expects to have them removed.
London reports from Shanghai that the third Japanese army is now mobilizing, comprising the fifth division from Hiroshima the tenth from Himeji and the eleventh from Zeentsuji. Preparations exist to mobilize a fourth army if needed with possible aims at Vladivostok or Port Arthur.
The Chickasaw-Choctaw Citizen ship Court will convene in Tishomingo Oklahoma next Monday to hear a number of contested Chickasaw citizenship cases. The docket includes appeals and eligibility disputes affecting several applicants. Local officials urge interested parties to attend and present supporting documentation.
G. W. Boston of this city placed seventh in a team of twenty eight during the first day of the Elliott tournament in Kansas City. He broke 160 targets of 200, a solid score for the opening day on unfamiliar ground. Boston also captured second and third money in several scores.
A tornado near Pryor Creek I T on Sunday night killed six people and injured several others. Victims include John Abbott and family, Albert Dealy and family, and Suey Bitting. The Bitting house at Grand River was demolished with Lucy Bitting killed and Leopold Bitting injured. The storm crossed into the Flint hills before rain followed.
Marie Evelyn DuVall and Clifton Thompson announce their marriage in Granbury Texas with cards issued in Ada. The wedding date was Wednesday evening May 4 and the couple are well known to local friends who send many good wishes.
Surveyors work near Wynnewood on the preliminary survey for an electric line from Sulphur Springs to Oklahoma City. The line is said to run parallel to the Santa Fe route from Davis to Oklahoma City.
