Noble Foundation Leader Urges Better Grass and Pecan Management
Dr. H. J. Harper director of the Noble Foundation agriculture division spoke at the Ada Kiwanis Club on pasture improvement winter beef feeding and forage crop production. He urged grass management to cut costs and cited results from southern Oklahoma fields showing beef gains per acre with Midland bermuda and legumes. He advised rotation grazing, selective grass and legume pairing, timely fertilization, and self feeding silos to improve forage quality and reduce hay feeding.

Pontotoc County 4-H dairy judging team took first in the District 4 Milking Shorthorn Snow contest at Pauls Valley Monday. The land judging team placed second among 17 southern Oklahoma counties at Springer near Ardmore in a contest sponsored by the Noble Foundation. Judges tallied 1 050 points. Garvin County was second with 885.

Charley W Floyd Pioneer Countian Dies in Ada
Charley W Floyd 79 longtime Pontotoc County resident and former county official died Friday March 30 at his Ada home after a brief illness. Funeral held Saturday at Southwest Church of Christ with burial in Rosedale Cemetery. Floyd served as an early county commissioner after statehood and later worked in the county assessor's office and ran the FERA program.
