Informational meeting on road commission fate held

City to repay Cronin grant to state in Marshall
After a state audit, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority asks Marshall to repay nearly 300000 of a Signature Building Project Grant used in 2006 to buy the J H Cronin Building at 101 W Michigan Ave. Councilwoman Miller notes both benefits and hoops changed by the decision as the city partners with Steve Eyre of LaFollete Custom Homes starting 2011 to develop the project.

Calhoun County Fairgrounds plans staff and future changes
The Calhoun County Fairgrounds will replace Operating Manager Sam Tone and Office Manager Sandy Woods as part of a broader effort to boost profitability. Officials are also pursuing structural committee changes and a six month process to draft a 10 to 15 year Master Plan for the fairgrounds.

Candidates share goals at Sept. 18 forum
The first of two Candidate Forums was held on Sept. 18 at Schuler's Restaurant & Pub, sponsored by Marshall Business Association and the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce. About 40 people attended to hear candidates in local clerk and Calhoun County water resource board races. A second forum is set for Sept. 25 at Schuler's from 6 to 7 30 p m.
