Oates to celebrate 60th anniversary and family milestones
Joan Collett Oates and Kenneth Oates mark their 60th wedding anniversary on September 16 along with Ken’s 83rd birthday on September 18 and a September 2003 move to Marshall. The Detroit-born couple wed in 1949 after Ken’s WWII service and a long career with the Automobile Club of Michigan. They raised four children and ten grandchildren, all in Michigan, with decades in Kalama, Birmingham, Constantine, and finally Marshall. Their lives include mayoral years and a long homemaker period. The note ends with a tease of a Hawaiian trip aboard the Pride of America.
