Memorial Day events in Marshall honor fallen veterans
On May 29 the Marshall VFW Post 4073 leads a 9:30 a.m. wreath ceremony at the Veterans Wall near Brooks Memorial Fountain to honor those who died in defense of the country. The 10 a.m. downtown parade features Ken Reddick as grand marshal, the Marshall High School Band, and the Corvette Club, followed by an 11 a.m. Oakridge Cemetery ceremony where Reddick is named 2016 Veteran of the Year. Reddick, a Korean War Navy veteran and longtime TAPS player, stresses Memorial Day as a day of remembrance rather than celebration.
