Honoring veterans not recognized in 1973 homecoming
Don Weberling, a Vietnam veteran and service officer for American Legion Post 79, has tracked down Vietnam and Vietnam era veterans who were not honored in Marshall Michigan’s Memorial Day 1973 parade. Certificates found in a VFW hall attic prompted a renewed effort to locate names, issue new certificates, and distribute booklets listing about 500 local veterans. The effort includes personal delivery of certificates and a thank you letter from the American Legion, with about 155 to 160 certificates remaining and some to be given to families.
