Albion hosts a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday May 26 from noon to 545 PM at First United Methodist Church 600 E Michigan Ave. Donors aged 17 or older in good health may give. 16 year olds with parental permission. Appointment by May 22 at 1-800-733-2767 or redcrossblood.org. Walk ins welcome.

Olivet Lions Club to host annual chicken barbecue
On Sunday May 15 the Olivet Lions Club will hold its annual chicken barbecue at Trenton Shrontz Memorial Park in downtown Olivet from noon to 2 PM. Cost is nine dollars for a half chicken or five dollars for a quarter, with potato salad baked beans dessert and a drink. Proceeds support community service projects as well as statewide and worldwide initiatives.

Eastern Calhoun class visits Holocaust Museum
Susan Fox's English class from Eastern Calhoun Early College visited the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills on April 25 after finishing Night by Elie Wiesel. They toured historical objects including a World War II boxcar and heard a 45 minute talk from survivor Jeannette Olson. Freshman Angela Walker praised meeting a Holocaust survivor.
