25 years as Marshall National Historic Landmark District
Marshall celebrates a quarter century as a National Historic Landmark District. The piece recalls the 1989 push led by Catherine Eckert and Caroline Pitts, the 1991 landmark approval, the 18 month nominating process, and the district’s impact on local tourism. It notes the original 125 building proposal, the tireless work of Judy Peters and the author, and the ongoing effort to form a new committee with local leadership.
