The Yellow Jug Old Drugs program coordinated by Great Lakes Clean Water Organization in Michigan has collected over 55,000 pounds of drug waste since May 2009. Young's Pharmacy in Albion has participated since 2010, accepting non controlled drugs for safe disposal at no charge.
A genealogical workshop for the public will be held Saturday April 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Governor's Mansion in Marshall. The Mary Marshall Chapter DAR sponsors the event with Lineage Research committee help and one on one assistance for attendees. Reservations are not required and there is no charge. Participants should bring birth and death certificates, marriage and baptism records, land records, family Bibles, census records, obituaries, cemetery records, and newspaper clippings. Marshall city council refined proposals with downtown merchants and approved a memorandum with the Marshall Area Fire Fighters Ambulance Authority to cut billable calls from the 911 dispatch. MAFFAA contracts for discounted flat-rate dispatch processing for hospital transfers, while a separate grant seeks 95 percent funding to replace Monroe Street and Kalamazoo River bridges. A state grant also covers 80 percent of Mansion Street reconstruction. A closed session heard privileged litigation notes in the matter of Marshall versus AGC Flatglass.
