Storms damage mile long model railroad track in Michigan club
The Mid- Michigan Railroad Club seeks donations to rebuild its mile long track damaged by May 29 storms. Two bridges were ruined and trees uprooted, with 90 percent tree removal finished. Volunteers from Cornwell’s Turkeyville and White Creek Railroad Club assisted. Estimated damages start at about 50 000 to 60 000 dollars, with track rebuild costing 50 to 100 dollars per foot. Officials hope to reopen by August but training and safety concerns may delay. Animals and other local helpers are being recruited to aid cleanup and rebuilding efforts.
