Texting ban costs for driving in Michigan law take effect
Michigan’s new texting and driving law prohibits reading writing and sending texts and took effect July 1. Marshall Police Chief Jim Schwartz said after the first week no citations had been issued. A first violation is a civil infraction with a $100 fine and $200 for subsequent offenses. The J H Cronin Building at W Michigan Ave and Jefferson St in downtown Marshall now houses Marshall Carriage Co and Marshall Ghost Tours with a lease through November 1.
