Marshall Middle adopts junior high schedule amid budget cuts
Marshall Public Schools balanced the 2012 13 budget by using 1 million in cash reserves and cutting about another million in expenditures. To save 110 thousand, Marshall Middle will move to a unified seventh and eighth grade teaching model with 12 teachers sharing both grades, while sixth grade retains the traditional two team structure. Principal Dave Turner notes the shift changes class flows, with seventh graders moving between floors and potential effects on Ethnic Fest and music requirements for rising sixth graders.
