Oakhill is among six featured gardens in the July 13 and 14 Welcome to My Garden Tour. Sponsored by the Marshall Area Garden Club, Franke Garden at 410 N Eagle Street is listed on both the Garden Tour and the Home Tour this year.
The home sits on a hillside with sweeping views of the property. Its grounds include expansive gardens woodlands a tennis court a playhouse and a windmill, offering ample space for all features of this garden estate.
Local Marshall area garden features a windmill from Indiana rebuilt near the original Oakhill windmill site. The Franke family, longtime property stewards for 30 years, opened the grounds for tours and community events. The garden includes a deer park, various seating areas, tennis courts, and a growing beekeeping effort with plans for possible honey.
Albion residents can join swimming lessons at Albion High School pool while Marshall High School is closed for locker and bathroom renovations. Sessions run July 9-13 or July 16-20 with fees of 20 dollars per week or 35 dollars for both weeks. Registration via phone or email. address for payment and contact details provided.
