MCF and YACkers back Shearman Park projects
The Marshall Community Foundation and YACkers donated funds in December for two Shearman Park projects on the former Shearman Elementary site at Linden and Mansion. They allocated 1800 dollars for an ice rink liner and parts, enabling continued rink use since 2011, and 10000 dollars toward a 24 by 36 foot pavilion. Through grants, 25000 of 35000 needed for the pavilion has been secured, with efforts to raise the remaining funds for early summer construction. YACkers, about 28 Marshall High students, work with adult advisor Kate Stewart to foster philanthropy locally.
