Marshall MPD targets Mansion and Green Streets this week
Marshall this week January 14 to 21 the Marshall Police Department enforcement zone targets Mansion Street and Green Street. Over the past week police reported eight arrests and charges including two OWs two marijuana possessions two traffic offenses three warrants six citations and 10 verbal warnings. The MPD invites residents with traffic concerns to call 269 781 2596 to set enforcement targets.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Marshall
On January 6 at about 8 30 p m officers stopped a 23 year old male driver on E Michigan Ave near East Drive for headlights violation. The driver, found with a suspended license, had marijuana in the vehicle and received an appearance ticket for license suspension and possession. The case remains open pending court proceedings.
Death investigation in Lee Township identifies body
Calhoun County Major Crimes Task Force detectives found a body in rural Lee Township on January 6 around 6 p.m. The victim was Robert Barroso of Battle Creek, missing since December 27. A person of interest led detectives to the scene, was arrested and jailed. Charges are expected after forensic ID completion at Western Michigan Homer Stryker School of Medicine. The task force includes sheriff, Battle Creek PD, MSP, Emmett DPS, Marshall PD, Albion PD, and the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Tribal Police.

Credit Card Fraud Reported In Marshall
On January 5 around 12 30 p m MPD officers were dispatched to the 800 block of S Kalamazoo Ave for a report of a credit card fraud. Officers spoke with a 48 year old male victim who reported someone used his credit card to purchase tools at a Harbor Freight in Camarillo California. An undisclosed amount of charges were made on the account. The incident was reported to the credit card company. The case is closed pending further leads.

Landlord Accused Of Illegal Entry And Assault

The case is under review by the Calhoun County Prosecutor for illegal entry and assault charges.

Accident leads to drunk driving arrest in Marshall
In Marshall on January 8, MPD officers respond to a Michigan Avenue crash where a westbound vehicle ran off the road, struck a post and rolled over. The 46-year-old male driver sustained minor injuries and showed signs of intoxication. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and lodged at Calhoun County Jail as the case remains open pending court proceedings.

Motorist killed in single vehicle crash on M99
Deputies report a single vehicle crash on M99 at H Dr. S. northbound driver lost control, the vehicle rolled several times into a field, and the 19 year old Rebecca Lynn Hall of Homer was ejected and died en route to the hospital. Albion Township Fire and ACA ambulance assisted.
