Plans Underway for 2013 Walk for Warmth Campaign
Community Action plans the 28th annual Walk for Warmth on Feb 23 to raise funds for low income seniors and disabled residents in Barry Branch Calhoun and St Joseph counties. In 2012 about 500 participants raised 47500 aiding nearly 200 households across the four county area. The campaign seeks 50000 at six locations Hastings Albion Coldwater Union City Three Rivers and Battle Creek with local sponsorships and team pledges. The Marshall Recreation Department announced multiple youth programs this winter. offerings include Youth 3-on-3 Basketball for grades 3-8 with Tuesday and Thursday half hour slots Jan 22 to Feb 2 at Hughes and Gordon Elementary Schools, registration by Jan 17, fees 20 to 25 dollars. Floor Hockey for K-8 with scrimmages Feb 2 and games Feb 9 to March 16 at MMS gym, deadline Jan 17, fees 24 to 31 dollars. Winter Sports Festival for K-5 on Jan 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hughes Elementary, registration by Jan 17, fees 24 to 33 dollars.
