Long Wait Ends in 42 Years of Married Life for Palmer Couple
David and Jewell Palmer of Marshall marked their 42nd anniversary on February 9. Their romance began in 1969 while he taught at Marshall High School and she worked at the University of Michigan Health System. After years apart and many near misses they finally married in February 1974, nine days before his 30th birthday, after a long courtship filled with letters, visits, and a dramatic postponed proposal.
