A 26 year old Marshall woman was arrested for domestic assault after striking her husband, a 30 year old man, during a dispute tied to separation and alleged dating website use. Officers observed the injuries and noted objects including a cell phone and a child’s toilet thrown during the altercation.
A stressed wife sought to buy cigarettes while separated from her husband. He took her bank card, she reached for it, and he shoved her chest with his elbow. Her hand struck his nose during the struggle. He allegedly said, Good, now I can call the police. The couple’s two young children were upstairs and heard the arguing. Police arrested the woman for domestic assault and she was jailed in Calhoun County. Officers noted a prior domestic assault arrest at the same home.
Michigan officials urge designated drivers for Super Bowl parties and warn of penalties for drunk driving. Last year 199 Michigan motorists were arrested for DUI on Super Bowl Sunday, with 62 at BAC .17 or higher. one pedestrian died in an alcohol related crash. Tips include designating a sober driver, stopping alcohol at end of third quarter, and using cab services. High BAC penalties include jail, fines, community service, license suspensions, and ignition interlock requirements. Refusal to breath test carries a one year license suspension.
Deputies responded to a report of suspicious materials at a building on M-60 near 8 Mile Rd in Burlington Township. They found a large methamphetamine dumpsite with dangerous lithium waste. Dispatched responders from Drug and Lab Disposal, Plainwell, Burlington and Union City fire departments, Branch County Sheriff, and Union City Police aided in dismantling the site.
On February 1 at 2 42 a.m. Calhoun County Sheriff deputies responded to a burglary alarm at Ducks Point Party Store on Monroe Road in Clarence Two. Deputies found a suspect at the scene with a pellet gun and another suspect fled but was arrested at his home. Both males, ages 20 and 21 from the Duck Lake Springport area, are jailed in Calhoun County for burglary.
