Grand Street Park crowdfund launches to revive Marshall lot
The city of Marshall launched a crowdfunding campaign on February 1 to turn the vacant 228 W. Michigan Ave. parcel into Grand Street Park. A design event on August 1, 2016 drew over 100 residents and 30+ proposals, shaping a plan inspired by Steve Line’s Hospitality Park, with Tim Banfield donating the site plan. If $50,000 is raised by March 31, donors advance a downtown revitalization including murals, chessboard tables, sail canopies, and donor-named wall art, plus a possible matched grant from MEDC and MSHA.
