Marshall City Council cuts two school crossing guards
At a Aug 6 meeting the council approved removing two crossing guards at Gordon St Mansion St and Green St Jefferson St while keeping one at North Dr Madison St. Police Chief Schwartz cited a study using AAA guidelines showing six guards during school hours but recommended reductions to four. The decision aims to save about 9000 while prioritizing student safety and monitoring the Madison street East crossing during early school year construction.
