Surcharge vote in Calhoun County 911 plan rejected
Calhoun County voters rejected a 2.25 per device monthly surcharge for the consolidated dispatch center by 7,298 to 7,234. Despite the close result, officials say the county supported 911 services and plan to implement an alternative funding formula based on calls for service. Local units Albion Marshall and Battle Creek showed varied support with Marshall and Albion voting yes and Battle Creek voting no.
