Last of a Vanishing Trade in Eramosa Everton Corner

A long history of the Everton Corner blacksmith shop tells how it was built in 1874 by William Abbott, passed through multiple owners, burned in 1906 and rebuilt, then served as a woodworking shop and dealership with Percy Smith's auto work. The narrative honors the smithy as the township’s last practicing blacksmith, closing after William Smith’s death in 1953 and passing to Hamiltons in 1963.
