Jack Lush, a Hamilton Burlington businessman and former Montreal Stock Exchange executive, was nominated as the Liberal candidate for the new riding joining Ted MacDonald of the New Democrats and George Kerr of the Progressive Conservatives. Esquesing council disclosed that building permits totaling 544000 were issued during March and April. Building inspector Tom McLean presented a 250000 office and garage for McKinley Transport on Highway 25 north of 401 near Milton. Councillors questioned 80 percent of permit fees to the inspector, and inquiry into inspection needs for architect designed projects followed.
