Planning board resigns after council rejects recommendations

Police reported two vehicle accidents in the week of June 11 causing $1,650 in damages and injuries to three people. The first crash on Church Street involved a 1963 Valiant driven by William John Gillespie and a 1966 Ford, injuring two passengers, with about $1,150 total vehicle damage. The second incident at Mill Street and Main left a motorcycle rider and passenger with minor injuries and about $500 damage total. The town planning board resigned over Council’s habit of refusing to accept recommendations without reasons, after a motion criticising the council passed. The board had urged a tentative subdivision plan and payment by the developer, a plan the council narrowly defeated. Additional notes describe cost concerns for a subdivision plan and potential layout issues.
